Cleaning Tips; For a Healthy Body, Mind and a Safe Home

Bacteria are everywhere. We practically live with them. They are in the air, in the water, on the surfaces, on the objects we use; some of them are good and make curd for us, while the others make us sick.  Bacteria and Viruses, they are basically omnipresent. Talking of viruses, we are living in a time where deadly viruses are creating havoc in our lives. Coronavirus or COVID-19 has infected millions of people around the globe.

From news channels to social media updates, we are constantly made aware of how many people are infected and have lost their lives. However, the increase in recovery rate brings some relief but there is no vaccine yet. The virus has taken over our entire life in a way that all we can think of is negativity and often feel sheer fear climbing our spine. So, the trick is to keep our minds calm, stable and our houses clean. Today, we will focus on these three things only.

Tips For a Healthy Body and Mind

Before we begin to talk about a healthy, virus-free home, we will be discussing how we can keep our body and mind, healthy.

Keep Your Immunity Up

There is no specific care, treatment, or medicine for coronavirus as such. Thus boosting your immunity is the best option that will help you keep away from this infection. So, keep up with it. Eat immunity booster foods and stay away from stress.

  • Practice Yoga

Yoga is the food for your body as well as for your soul. It will help you stay fit which is much needed and also it will keep your mind healthy. So, practice it in the form of exercise and mindfulness.

  • Meditate to Calm Yourself

The situation going around the world could be traumatizing at times. It can disturb your mental peace. But most of the news out there is not going to help you nor are all the social media forwards going to solve your problems. It is crucial that you don’t become a victim of information overload.  So if you feel you really need a break, indulge yourself in self-care and meditation. Take up a short meditation course if you have to and practice it for at least 5-10 minutes daily.

  • Take Help of Ancient Indian Recipes

India has a rich medical and culinary heritage, as a result of which we have healthy recipes, therapeutic and curing remedies in abundance. Having said this, be aware of any false claims for any cure as such. But, the least you can do is to take their support for building a strong immune system. Prevention is of course better than cure. The AYUSH ministry’s recommended Kadha, Haldi-doodh, Chyawanprash, and regular yoga/exercise could help you protect your family from any health crisis.

Cleaning Tips to Keep Bacteria and Virus Away from Home

As mentioned earlier, prevention is always better than cure. So, after preparing your body and mind to stay fit and repel any possible infection, now comes the turn of your home sweet home where you spend most of your time. We hope that you and your family members are staying indoors and safe. Here are some cleaning tips to keep your house clean and virus, bacteria-free.

  • Keep Washing Your Hands

Keep washing your hands. Even if you are inside. Anything that you will be doing will be performed by you with the help of your hands, and that is why the first step is to keep your hands sanitized and clean. Use soap and water and wash them for a minimum of 20 seconds.

Use alcohol-based sanitizer, if you cannot access soap and water. Guide your children to do the same.

  • Use a Basic Disinfectant for Cleaning the Floor

Clean floor with a good quality disinfectant. You do not need any highly chemical-based disinfectant. Your basic Dettol cleaner will work well.

If you have small kids who play on the floor, pay extra attention to not just keep it bacteria-free but also chemical and free. Opt for herbal and eco-friendly cleaners.

  • Avoid Going Out

Avoid stepping out of your home, until it is not something very urgent. The virus will not enter the house until you do not go out and get it.

Stay home, spend time with your family. Indulge in cooking tasty recipes, playing with children, and working from home.

  • Avoid Touching Surfaces

Groceries and medicines are some essentials that we do need to go out for. They are mostly unavoidable. In that case, take all the necessary precautions.

  • While in the elevators- Press buttons with your elbow instead of your finger.
  • Do not touch anything unnecessarily.
  • Avoid touching doors and handles, use your arms and elbows instead.
  • Wear protective gloves and dispose of immediately after use.
  • Keep Distance and Wear Face Mask

When you are stepping out to run your errands, then always keep in mind that you need to keep a certain distance (2 meters at least) from every person. We can never be 100% certain about the infection in our surroundings. Do not shake hands with anyone to greet.

We all know that social distancing will keep us away from the Coronavirus. Wearing a mask is now mandatory in many countries. This will help prevent the spread of the infection. Such measures will help us keep our house clean and sanitized.

  • Sanitize the Objects

As your groceries and other foodstuff reaches your house, the first step is to clean them. Keep a disposable paper towels roll and a spray bottle with a disinfectant in it handy. Spray the articles with the cleaner, wipe it properly with the towel, and immediately throw the disposable towel into the bin.

Wash your fruits and vegetables with clean, warm water. Add a pinch of salt to it. Do this before storing the edibles. Do not forget to wash the milk packets, curd boxes, and eggs with water.

Use the wipe and the disinfectant on the door-knobs and door handles of your home when a person enters the house after coming from the outside. Ask the person to wash hands before doing anything else.

These are very easy and effective tips to make sure that our house is clean and free from the risk of contamination.

Conclusion
The global pandemic situation is like never before and has changed our lifestyle completely. Many countries are heavily affected by the Covid-19 virus. Scientists and researchers are investing days and nights to develop the appropriate medicine or vaccine for the diseases. But it apparently can take many more months for the launch and for it to reach everyone. Till then, we have to take all the possible measures to stay safe, keep our mind and body healthy, and stay up-to-date with all measures to fight this virus. Take care of your health, eat immunity booster, and healthy home-made treats and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

JURU is a portmanteau of JUte and RUbber and our first mat overlay was made of jute and natural rubber. ‘juu-roo’ also means ‘eureka’, ‘joy’ in a few tribal languages. Instead of crying Eureka we cried JURU! And this is precisely what JURU is – a perfect yoga companion for yogis who wish to choose the eco-friendly path.

We wanted mats and props to reflect and value the peaceful principles that yoga embodies; one of which is to establish perfect harmony with nature. Taking inspiration from some wonderful international eco-yoga brands and from the make-in-India campaign, we launched our first made-in-India anti-slip yoga mat overlay.
